ola amigo!

These cushions are by Argentine design studio Hola Amigo, love their bags too!

A few years ago a friend and I imported furniture from Argentina! We spent three weeks traveling around and shopped up a storm! Buenos Aires is probably the most amazing place on the planet! The people are so friendly even though no one understands English, you seem to get along just fine! Would gladly go back tomorrow! 

Two of my favourite pieces we brought back... loved this 1920's dry goods cupboard that we found in an old supply store, so wanted to keep it for myself but it was huge!

This little green cupboard we found somewhere in the Pampas, not sure where we were but it was gorgeous!

This looks like fun!  Pitty I won't be in Cape Town for this! Stellenbosch is one of my favorite places, sure there will be some amazing things on display!

Support the cause.....

I love this and what it says! I always try to support our local artist and crafters, we have so many talented people around us! During the past 2 weeks alone I have met 7 amazingly creative people! So cool to see what people come up with. I particularly like the lisa&jo range, so creative, really inspires me!

Little tin .....

I bought this beautiful little box with safety pins in at Waste Centre in Umgeni Road. Love the photos on the tin, also easy to see that there's pins in from the top as well as the side, ideal for my studio!

New lampshades

I am so excited about these new shades! All original hand painted! Working on a variety of designs including a hopping bunny, can't wait to have it finished! These flowers didn't come out too badly for someone who can't draw! Hope you like them!

These were featured on the bloesem blog.They are by Jessica,fun and fresh. There's a bit of Orla in there somewhere though! Would be nice to add scatters in a few of these designs. Inspired me to design a new card.....we'll see how it turns out!

take note.....

I love notebooks, especially something interesting. We do a lot or re cycled notebooks with little paintings, embroidery etc on them. These are the latest ones that we have added to the collection, hand made by a local girl! R150 each. They go beautifully with the map bags that we have!

serene ceramics.....

Very excited! Our new ceramics are ready for shipment! Should be in store by Saturday!  This is a very talented girl! Love the simplicity!

Did these new embossed bunny cards this week! In store early next week R30 for two with envelope.

There's a lot of bunnies out there once you start looking for them! Made me think of "Snoekie" my black bunny I had when I was little! She used to follow me where ever I went, she loved to swim! Miss her.....

..... ceramic calamity

Ok, so I agreed to take over my dad's kiln and various other pottery "things"  I know basically nothing about pottery or is it ceramics? I don't even know! It's one of those scenarios where you can actually see the flashing red neon "WHY?" sign! Look at these amazing things! I love the origami bird! I am not sure that there is any real hope for me but I am definitely very excited about learning to make something new..... now I just have to find someone to teach me!

I absolutely love these printed velt coasters, found them on etsy. Velt's a really amazing material and I will definitely have to come up with a few "velty" ideas for the shop!

Wish I had the patience to make something like this! So cute! Been looking for "different" softs for ikhaya but haven't been able to find someone local! Keep an eye out for talented people! Have come across quite a few amazing little creatures on my search! I love the birds that Denise had at I heart market!

Definitely on the wish list of prezzies from oz, a pair of Hunter boots! I hope my mom can find me a pair, would be very handy on a Saturday morning when I have to brave the Hillcrest cold at The Shongweni Farmer's Market! By the way, we will be at the day/night market this Wednesday, 16th of June from 11am-8pm, pop past, should be great fun!

I love vintage botanicals! Found "Flora on the Natal Coast" at a junk shop and even though I loved the contents the cover looked amazing framed in one of our plywood frames.

I have been wanting to do some white silhouettes on wood for ages and never seem to get to it. Terry is doing some of her awesome drawings onto blocks and this is my contribution..... Selling for R80 each, they don't look too bad if done as 1 installation, definitely no Picasso!

This is world cup at ikhaya, couldn't actually do all the bright colours of the flags! I quite like these! The day started off badly with someone copying our "jacs" and actually selling them to shops, I was so annoyed and disappointed but the day kind of improved once these were finished! I made them from natural linen and  faded denim.

Been looking for something similar to this deer picture for ages! Love this one, mad about the servers as well, real simple but real interesting. Been looking for inspiration, have to design a new server/plasma unit, I absolutely love this new material, paperwood by drill design, can't wait for it to be available in SA.

..... must love protea

Protea's have been my favorite since forever! My Oumie always used to have them on her dining room table! I can't help but use them everywhere! Recently bought a few of these ceramic beauties for the shop, selling at R199 each. Of course I had to keep one for myself! Can you believe that they called them artichokes? To me it's definitely a protea.....

These ceramic gift tag / wind chime we do in protea, aloe, strelitzia and retro circles. They are made by hand and then fired, so you can actually write on them! Quite nice to use as a card, then you can frame it afterwards. They sell for R20 each. We are currently working on a few additions to the range.

.....what was I thinking?

Don't know! Can't believe that I didn't keep this original tulip set for myself! Nev restored it beautifully! I will probably never get another set! Ah well will just have to keep looking for another, who knows what I'll find in the meantime.....

wire works.....

 

How cool are these guys? Little soccer players made by a local wire guy! We really have amazing talent all around us! Had to get them for Ryan's room. (Sorry I don't think my photo do them justice!)
